This was the last day of
PHUKET PHASE TWO : ACTION
at
PATONG BEACH!
Because John and I were still burnt to a crisp,
we decided to ride a tuc tuc to
PHUKET TOWN!
And, once again, we resumed our
"I think I can, I think I can"
tuc tuc mantra!
On our way there,
we stopped by a Buddhist temple,
which was
B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.
Back in the tuc tuc,
we drove past many a decoration commemorating
THE CHINESE NEW YEAR!
We didn't see much in Phuket Town,
so we urged our driver on to
WAT CHALONG.
"Wat Chalong is the
most visited Buddhist temple on the island
and the most beautifully ornamented
of Phuket's 29 Buddhist monasteries.
of Phuket's 29 Buddhist monasteries.
THE CHALONG TEMPLE
is associated with three revered monks of Luang Por Chaem,
renowned herbal doctors and setters of bones,
who helped the people of Phuket
put down the Ahngyee - Chinese Coolie,
Rebellion in 1876 during the reign of Rama V."
We walked through a market place,
until we reached the temple.
The temple was over-the-top ornate
and beautiful.
Back through the vendor area, we looked over their wares,
before jumping back in the tuc tuc
for the ride to see
THE BIG BUDDHA!
We didn't get really close, but we sure saw him
in all his glory!
We drove by many a roadside
Buddhist shrine,
and past one large cruise ship,
before making it back to our hotel to get ready to go to the
PHUKET SIMON CABARET!
And you know what that means, right?
And you know what that means, right?
LADY BOYS!
And what a show it was!
We couldn't take pictures during the performance,
but I snapped a few afterwards!
These are a few of the
LADY BOYS!
And, man oh man, can they ever perform!
We had our driver drop us off at the
HARD ROCK CAFE
where we ate dinner,
listened to great music,
and drank a beer or two or three!
Off to walk the streets,
(we were not alone!)
as it was the last night to enjoy
the absolute craziness that is
PATONG BEACH!
Thus, the finale of
PHUKET PHASE TWO : ACTION!
