THURSDAY RAMBLINGS!

Last night John and I met friends at the Oktoberfest at the Grand Hyatt.  Let's just say, the beer was cold; the music was great; and the group of friends we were with was a blast! 

Let's not say, the beer was cold; the music was great; and John and I had WAY TOO MUCH TO DRINK!  Enough said.



I've been walking down the JBR Walk almost every morning.  Several days this week the sky was blue and filled with clouds.  It has been simply gorgeous!

I was walking along at a pretty good clip one morning when suddenly I was outpaced by these two locals!  HaHaHa, made me laugh out loud!
 

If you visit the JBR Walk often, you might wonder where the market has gone.  Well, it seems they've moved the kiosks down to the Sheraton end of the Walk because of all the construction!
 

Anyone know what this is going to be?  I couldn't figure it out!
I bet by tomorrow's stroll I'll know!
 

There are sooooo many changes happening on The Walk.  These two new towers are under construction in front of the Al Fattan Towers.  A mall is currently being built.  And several new shops and restaurants are opening every day!
 

Just another Thursday Ramblings!  TGI-TH everyone!!!

WOOHOO!! Scho and Joe are here in Dubai!
I am taking a short real time posting break so John and I can spend every minute with our dear, dear friends!

THEY'RE HERE! THEY'RE HERE! WE ARE SO EXCITED!!

There are four stray cats that live outside our buildings. 

Every night when Teddy and I take a walk, we see them and talk to them (Teddy barks at them), and pet them.  For strays they are very friendly!

And for strays, I noticed that they really looked pretty good!  They were thin, but not skinny.  And they were sooooo friendly!

It didn't take long to notice that residents from our buildings would come down and make sure all four kittys were fed and watered every night!

Thank you Park Island people!  Here kitty, kitty!

RECIPE FOR A PERFECT MORNING!

We woke up early this morning to a louder than usual "Adhan" or "Call To Prayer" and a wonderful cool breeze blowing in through our dirty-but-open window. 

After nearly five months of living here in Dubai, the five times a day "Call To Prayer" doesn't sound annoying any longer.  It was actually kind of peaceful this morning....

To make it even better, a spunky Teddy came bounding in full of energy and demanding his breakfast! (That certainly made my day!)

Then off I went for a pleasant 30 minute stroll to Tips N Toes for a much needed mani and pedi!!!  But first, of course, I had to stop at one of my favorite places to grab one of these.....

It was the perfect morning for a walk as the sunshine was nice and warm and the shade was cool and delightful!

Needless to say, my Tips N Toes appoinment went well and now the only worry I have is.....

.....white or black?  Ah yes, this is a recipe for a perfect morning! 

And don't forget.....THE BOYS ARE COMING AND THEY'LL BE HERE THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW!!!  WOOHOO!!

WE DID IT! WE ACTUALLY DID IT!

For the seven weeks that I have lived in Dubai I have craved one thing....WALKING!!  No lie, I look down at the Marina WALK and visualize myself and Teddy WALKING along the water's edge. 

This morning WE DID IT!!  WE ACTUALLY DID IT!!  I stepped out onto our balcony and felt a rather cool breeze across my cheek!  I haven't felt anything so wonderfully delightful in a long, long, long time!!  I grabbed Teddy from his lounging position on the sofa (he's become quite the couch potato, ya know), wiped the cobwebs off my tennis shoes that I found hidden and unused in the back of my closet, grabbed his leash, and kept repeating, "We're going for a WALK!  We're going for a WALK!"  In the past Teddy always got excited by the mere word "WALK".  Today he looked at me quite bewildered, in utter disgust as a matter of fact, and acted like he had never even heard the word "WALK" before and then had the audacity to snarl at me.....

But once we hit the pavement he got his little legs a moving and his tail was a wagging!!  We WALKED!  We could even breathe while we WALKED!!  It was amazing!  We walked along the water of the marina and then about 15 minutes into it the sun's rays started creeping out between two buildings and it was instantly HOT!!  Teddy started panting.  I started panting.  By the time we reached the door to our building I was covered in sweat....but I had a smile on my face.

BECAUSE WE DID IT!  WE ACTUALLY DID IT!!
