THAILAND PHASE TWO : PATONG ACTION (DAY 2)!

It was 

SUPER BOWL MONDAY

in Phuket,

and John and I got up early to be sure to get a seat

for the big game!

We were rooting for our man, Peyton!

They served a great Bloody Mary,

encouraged us to place bets,

(Take that, Dubai!)

and it wasn't long before the place filled

with USA football fans!

Unfortunately, neither Peyton

or Denver showed up for the football game.

Afterwards, went walked over to the infamous

PATONG BEACH,

past many a Buddhist shrine!

By the time we arrived,

the beach was packed full of tourists!

Luckily, there were more than enough loungers

and umbrellas to go around!

You never have to worry at

about not having something to look at!

It was a gorgeous sunny day and,

would you believe, John and I both burned to a crisp?

I guess the Phuket sun versus the Dubai winter sun

is quite different!

OUCH!

It was difficult to capture the crowd 

in camera shots, 

so here is a video of PATONG BEACH on a beautiful

February afternoon!

By the end of the day, 

John and I were about as red as the Tuc Tuc

we rode in to dinner!

We chose an Italian restaurant that came 

highly recommended.

It (and the view) did not disappoint!

was magnificent, to say the least!

After the sun had set and we

were stuffed full of good 'ol Italian food,

we walked through tons of people and found ourselves on

BANGLA STREET.

That is where the REAL PATONG ACTION takes place!

People were walking through the crowds
holding gigantic lizards,

(that's what this girl is holding)

and I learned quickly that I couldn't tell

the ladies from the

lady boys!

(OH.DEAR.LORD.)

Yup, ya gotta walk along BANGLA STREET to believe it!

There's nothing quite like the

ACTION

found on the infamous

BANGLA STREET!

THE UNAMERICAN AMERICAN!

Yesterday was Sunday.....SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!  And neither John or I watched a lick of football.  That is simply UNAMERICAN!

So here it is the day AFTER the biggest day of football and I have vowed to stay the heck away from Facebook until I can find the time to plug in NFL Gamepass and watch the dog gone game!  I don't want to know who won BEFORE I watch it and somehow Facebook can never keep a secret!

Hmmmmm, who will I cheer for this year?  My Dad played for the Baltimore Colts many years ago.  But Baltimore beat my beloved Colts this year.  And Baltimore continues its hate-fest toward Indianapolis because we "stole" their team right from under their noses many moons ago.   But then again, Coach Harbaugh of San Fran used to be an Indianapolis Colt.   Ahhhhhh, decisions, decisions!

Last year John and I went to the Barasti and watched the game on the big screen, while sitting outside under the palm trees.  We may have seen it a day late but, I've got to admit, I loved our seats!

This year John is in Cairo and I don't even know if the Barasti is hosting a Super Bowl party.  You just don't hear much about it here in the UAE.  I think I'll take my computer out on the balcony and watch the game.  I may even splurge and drink a Miller Lite.   But while I watch it, you can be sure I'll be thinking of all the past Super Bowl parties we enjoyed with good friends back in the States.   I guess I should have organized a football gathering here in Dubai.  

Yes, I'm feeling like the UNAMERICAN AMERICAN right now!   But I'm sure to feel better once I turn on the archived Super Bowl Game with NO COMMERCIALS!   Talk about
UNAMERICAN!  Geesh!!
