GOLFING AND GOOD BYES!!!

We all rode in a "buggy"....
(That would be "golf cart" in the good 'ol US of A!)

Our British golf instructor bought us all a drink!
(He bought me a beer!!  WOOHOO!)

Here we all are posing as we wait to tee off!

After our lesson we played a few holes,

and toasted Lynn as she leaves Dubai
 to head home to Vancouver.

We'll sure miss you, girl!!!
(And such is life in good 'ol Dubai!)

OH, THAT FOUR LETTER WORD!!

Oh, that four letter word
that hasn't been uttered since the thermostat
turned up in Dubai
last May!

G*O*L*F*

Well, not only
did we say it today --  we played it today!
Yes, we let the camels and the bumblebees out of the bag
and headed to the Montgomerie where we played
the big girls course!

Ready or not........off we went!

The course was absolutely beautiful.
The weather was -- well, let's just say it was a
weight loss opportunity
since we were dripping wet before we finished the first hole!
 But we certainly had fun
hitting that little white ball
(mine was peach)
and taking lots and lots of photos of the course!

AHHHHHH,
that four letter word
G*O*L*F*
never looked soooooo good!

A FIRST...AND A LAST!

It was a FIRST and a LAST
for me
this morning!

Yesterday was our LAST time
playing golf at Emirates with Paula as our fourth.

Today, Lynn, Lorraine and I snuck off early (way early)
to Jebel Ali Golf Course
to play our very LAST game of golf together,
before I leave for the States,
and Lynn leaves for Canada,
and Lorraine leaves for the United Kingdom!

And we played for the very FIRST time (for me, that is)
at Jebel Ali, which is a big girl's course,
and I LOVED IT!!!
It was absolutely beautiful
with long, luscious green fairways,

lined with majestic palm trees,

gorgeous (and loud) peacocks,

ball eating (but peaceful) lakes,

and, unfortunately for me,
lots and lots (and LOTS) of sand!

But I LOVED being able to drive
the golf carts
that generated a bit of a breeze
which was certainly welcome on this
hot and humid (OMG) morning!
(Our camels enjoyed the ride as well!)

What an AWESOME morning it was!
We all played well (WOOHOO),
and actually survived the high temperatures!

Even though it really was our LAST golf game
together for awhile,
we made plans for lessons, clinics, and lots and lots of golf
when we reconvene later this year!

Jebel Ali was a gorgeous course
with a spectacular ending!

Dang, will you just look at those boats!
We need to figure out a way
to get on one of those!!

Good bye Lynn and Lorraine!
Can't wait to get back together to play golf in the Fall!!

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END!

Last Fall,
(October 6, to be exact),
we started playing weekly golf
at Emirates Golf Club.

We played all winter long
on OOO LA LA wonderful weathered mornings!
We played our last game, however,
this morning,
in triple digit, humid conditions.

But we still LOVED every single minute
of our frustrating game,
even though sweat was beading on our foreheads
and running down our legs.

YES, ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END.

This morning marked our
last time all together
for a while.

Thanks Lynn, Lorraine, (Freda), and Paula!
It's been a great run!
Have a wonderful summer and I can't wait to see you all
back on the golf course
next Fall!!

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END.....
BEFORE THEY CAN START AGAIN!!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY EVERYONE!

HOW SWEET THE SUITE!

I got to go to the Dubai Desert Classic AGAIN!
This time it was the final day!
This time it was with
this....

.....a suite pass!

What does that mean?
Well, let's see.  That means
PERFECT seats with PERFECT views and
PERFECTLY FREE DRINKS!

It was actually a
very, very, VERY exciting ending!
Knicker Man (Cabrera-Bello) was in first place
after his last putt.
He had a score of -18.
(Holy Cow - how is that even possible?)

We all watched,
with bated breath,
for the last two players (with a -17) to putt.
Could one of them beat the man in knickers?

With perfectly FREE BEERS in our hands,
we sat in our PERFECT seats,
with the PERFECT view
and watched
Cabrera-Bello make the headlines
as the winner of the
2012
DUBAI DESERT CLASSIC!

OH YEA!  HOW SWEET THE SUITE!*!

DUBAI DESERT CLASSIC!

Yes, we did it again!

We went to another golf tournament,
The Dubai Desert Classic,
which was held at Emirates Golf Club.

We hopped on the Metro,
rode it to the very next stop,
hopped off and walked across the street to the course!

EASY SMEASY!!

Here is where the pros practiced.
Notice the number of divets.
Notice the high number of balls surrounding the targets.
Hmmmmm, why doesn't my practice area
look like this?

Here is the lineup of pros
that played.

The Majlis Course
at Emirates Golf Course
is absolutely
B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.!!

We had great fun
watching the pros, the spectators,
the caddies (there was even a female caddy!),
and simply enjoying
the gorgeous day!

John Daly was my favorite pro
to watch
because he was so easy to keep track of!

Every now and again,
we all need a reminder
of where we are in the world!

And every now and again,
the players
need a reminder of what they are playing for.

There is nothing like
golfing and watching golf
in Dubai!

The Dubai Desert Classic!
Yea Baby!*!
