BACK TO LIFE IN DUBAI!

and beautiful blue skies have returned to Dubai.....

went downstairs to check out Trader Vic's,

had a drink (or two),

...and were joined by our husbands for an impromptu dinner!

(John arrived right after this picture was taken!)

Our visitors have left and

I have returned to the (oh so much fun)
Marina Bunco Night....

....and I won, to boot!

I won't mention what category I won (biggest loser),

but I did take home some DIRHAMS!

I have resumed our Thursday Cocktails

with the Marina ladies.

And oh it was so much fun seeing everyone again!

John and I enjoyed a dhow dinner cruise,

 through the Marina,

with friends.

Yes, our visitors have left....

and it's great to get back to life in beautiful Dubai!



AWAM Gals! AT BLISS

Last Thursday the AWAM Gals!

met at the newly renovated BLISS at the Sheraton JBR.

We got to sit in the cozy area beside the bar,

until we had to move out

to make room for a VIP party that had reserved that area.

 

Bliss management moved us to picnic tables that were

sitting under the palm trees,

beside the Arabian Sea...

and we were quite okay with that!

AWAM Gals! DO THE NEW OCEAN VIEW HOTEL!

 It was just another typical Thursday for

the AWAM (American Women's Association Marina) Gals!

We were meeting for our cocktail hour at the new 

Ocean View Hotel on the JBR Walk.

Yvonne and I strolled past 

the shops, cafes,

and the cars, oh the cars!!!  

We made it to our destination

and entered the Ocean View Hotel for the very first time! 

What a beautiful lobby

of a stunning hotel!

The AWAM Gals! were lucky enough to sit outside

by the infinity pool overlooking the

Arabian Sea!

We were sitting outside 
in perfect weather on the last day of January!

CHEERS!

  And a special thanks to a special hotel manager

that treated us to some very 

delicious appetizers!

And then on the way home,

we saw some ACTION along The Walk!

Oh what fun it is to be an

AWAM Gal!

living in the Dubai Marina!

 

IT'S OFFICIAL!

Yes, we're certainly having fun on Thursday afternoons!

But c'mon ladies, isn't it about time we officially change the name from THURSDAY COFFEE/TEA/ETC. to:

THURSDAY COCKTAILS!!

WE'RE BAAAACK!!

Ramadan is OVER and the Marina ladies are back at it.....

We're back and we couldn't be HAPPIER!

It was wonderful meeting some new arrivals 

and, of course,

seeing old friends again!

SAMAD AL IRAQI ROCKS!!

The last Friday of

each and every month

has become known as the

FRIDAY WINE & DINE

in the Dubai Marina!

Last Friday a bunch of us met

for dinner at Samad Al Iraqi.

I called four hours ahead to order

three fish to be cooked

for our group of fourteen people.

OMGoodness!

It was a meal and a half

for each and every one of us,

(my pants are still tight)

but it was OHHHHH SOOOO GOOD!!!

Will you just look at all the food lining the table?

Every square inch was taken up

by delicious Middle Eastern delights!

Sooooo,

if you live in Dubai,

or are visiting Dubai.....

a meal at Samad Al Iraqi is a MUST DO!!

But be sure to bring your appetite!!

Yes, Samad Al Iraqi ROCKS!

And so do the AWAM Gals (& Guys) of the Dubai Marina!!



AWAM GALS!

We now have a name for the AWA women (and a few other really fun ladies) that live in the Dubai Marina!  We call ourselves the AWAM Gals which stands for American Women Association Marina Gals.

We've started meeting weekly for coffees and are getting to know each other very well!  The numbers at the coffees are growing since the AWA is now in full swing.  And it seems like every day someone new is moving in and, unfortunately, someone is moving out.  The friends moving away is the difficult part of living as an Expat.  But it goes with the territory!

This afternoon, there were twelve of us that expressed an interest in doing yoga together!  I am sooooo excited!  One of the AWAM gals has a yoga instructor she has been working with.  She is going to see if he would be willing to take us on!  OMGosh I SIMPLY CAN'T WAIT!
