AFTER TEN MONTHS OF PLANNING.....

After ten months of planning, meetings, and phone call after phone call......it was FINALLY Friday, February 17th -- the day of the (American Women's Association) AWA GALA!*!

John and I stacked all the boxes of printed materials (A big thanks to all the folks at Unique Print Solutions for a job well done!) to take over to the Asateer, Atlantis The Palm, where setup for the big event was soon to be underway!

Unfortunately, it was an absolutely horrible morning weather wise!  Gusts of wind were wreaking havoc on everything that wasn't nailed down, and a sand storm made even the tallest of high rises disappear!  Oh, what a day it was going to be!

After we arrived, meetings soon were underway!

And there certainly wasn't a lack of things to do! Mannequins had to be put together (and dressed),

chair covers had to be changed from the gold (oops!) to the black (slowly, ever so slowly!),

and lights had to be hung and in working order.

There were bags and boxes to unpack,

and the silent auction to be organized, with tables set and different categories specified.

Centerpieces of roses and mirrors and candles had to be pieced together,

and signs had to be placed.

At last one meeting was over.....and yet another one began!

The room was starting to take shape!  The stage and the dance floor were ready to go,

the couches were arranged (and cleaned!),

and over 500 menus, raffle tickets and programs were placed.

Yes, the room was coming together at last!

Finally, it was time for a well deserved break!  A wonderful lunch was brought in for all to enjoy.

We were excited, exhausted, and were definitely enjoying watching the fruits of our labor coming together!  We all sat back and relaxed (somewhat!) for a moment!

Even John took a break from all of his hard work of unloading boxes and putting up banners.  (Thanks, my dear, for all of your much appreciated help!)

The last thing to be put on each of the tables was the Heads or Tails envelopes full of Gala souvenir magnets.

After ten months of planning, visualizing, and dreaming, it all came down to a ballroom that looked like this,

....now ready and waiting to be filled to the brim with tuxedos and gowns, music and laughter.....
