A BEAUTIFUL END TO SEPTEMBER!

Last Friday was an amazing day in Dubai!

It was clear.

The sky was blue.
(It was -- it really was!)

There was a gentle breeze blowing.

It was the perfect way to end September!
AHHHHHH!

Happy last day of September everyone!

YAS WATERWORLD, ABU DHABI!

A new water park opened in
Abu Dhabi
called
YAS WATERWORLD!

John and I decided to give it a try last weekend.

The day was HOT.

The day was HUMID.

When we weren't in the Lazy River,

or the Wave Pool,

we were standing in line, feeling that HEAT and HUMIDITY.
But there was a lot to see!

A surfing pool!

From bikinis to abayas!

Tents to lounge in!

Yas golf course in the distance!

Ferrari World and Yas Formula One race track.

Rides. People. Fun.

Rides. People. Fun.

Rides. People. Fun.

A people dryer!

I'm seriously not kidding.  A people dryer!

But I'd be lying if I didn't say
we were HOT!
After about six bottles of water,
standing in long, long lines to ride many, many slides,
spending hours in the wave pool, and floating
a million times around the Lazy River,
John and I were DONE!

When you live where we do,
sometimes it's even too HOT for a day at
YAS WATERWORLD!

CELEBRATING ONAM!

John and I were invited
to join in an
ONAM FESTIVAL LUNCHEON
with a group of his co-workers!

What exactly is an Onam Festival?
I had to Google it -- and this is what I found:
(Scroll below to see the link.)

John put on his Kurta
with only shorts on underneath!
(Oh how I wish I remembered to take a full length picture.)

We all patiently waited for our
TWENTY-SOMETHING
course lunch to be prepared!

Some delicious appetizers were brought to the table.
Goodness knows we didn't want
to starve before
the main course(s) appeared!

They finally arrived....
piles and piles of different vegetable dishes
beautifully displayed on a banana leaf.

We were very hungry....can you tell?

We took some photos while waiting for everyone's
plate to arrive!

And then we were told we were to
EAT WITH OUR FINGERS!
What?  Where's my fork?

It didn't take long for us to master it!
(It's surprising how quickly you learn when you are starving!)

Ah, what a wonderful way to celebrate
ONAM....
wonderful food, delightful conversation, and
GREAT FRIENDS!

Thanks so much to our wonderful hostess!
We certainly enjoyed
CELEBRATING (and learning about) ONAM
with you!
